DDI Web Development Case Studies

MONEYPULSE is a web based Investment and Retirement Planning business headquartered in Richmond, Virginia. Founded and envisioned by Tim Nitz, an experienced expert in wealth management. MoneyPulse provides a unique web-based approach to help guide people in reaching their financial goals with an emphasis on maintaining a balance between accruing personal wealth and using it to enjoy one’s life and fulfill their purpose.

We worked with Tim, his staff and his branding company to develop an inviting design that is rich in content, including an ongoing series of videos of Tim that cover all aspects of his investment/retirement philosophy. The site includes a membership component that enables members to invest, track and manage their funds through Ardent Wealth Advisory LLC. The site incorporates our highly customized CMS to enable MoneyPulse staff to keep the it fresh and inviting. (


Astyra Corporation, headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, is an award-winning staffing and consulting firm. They offer highly skilled people and are experts in successfully matching consultants to solutions. Their clients range from government agencies and financial institutions to major systems integrators.

Astyra requested a new website design that was responsive, incorporated a user friendly CMS, improved Bullhorn reach interfaces, SEO performance and that reflected their bold and unconventional culture.

We developed several homepage design candidates ranging from corporate chic to an “in your face” colorful, graphic cartoon solution. They chose the cartoon solution and we continued to carry that theme throughout the rest of the site’s content. We built the site on a Wordpress platform to take advantage of their user-friendly CMS, updated the Bulhorn interfaces and worked with Astyra on the sites content to improve SEO performance and tracking capabilities. Response to the site has been very positive. (


Fi-Tech Inc.


Fi-Tech Inc. headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, is a manufacturers’ rep. and distribution firm serving the Synthetic Fibers and Polymer Industries. Fi-Tech represents the leading manufacturers of complete machines or technical components used in the production of Polymer, Synthetic Fibers, Nonwovens, Textiles, Converting, Perforated Products or in Tobacco Processing.


Fi-Tech’s previous website and marketing materials had not kept up with the companies’ growth and reputation in the industries they serve. We began by working with them to develop an updated version of their original logo and some new print materials to better tell their story. A new website program was developed to enable visitors to navigate from the corporate site to any one of seven, stand alone, industry-specific sites for fast access to the information that they need. The new design is fresh, colorful, responsive and delivers a wide variety of information in a simple and intuitive way. (


Clearcut Dieworks

ClearCut DieWorks, Headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, produces steel rule cutting dies and printing plates for the packaging industry. ClearCut offers a comprehensive range of tooling and provides a wide variety of services—from design and production to training and cost-free maintenance programs.

ClearCut requested a complete branding package including a new logo design, signage, collateral materials and a new website. The emphasis on the site, in addition to showcasing products and services, is to make customer contact and order inquiry and placement quick and easy. Opportunities to Chat, Request a Quote or contact one of ClearCut’s four locations are readily available on all pages of the site. A full sitemap is always available at the bottom of the page for quick navigation to new pages. (


Winters-Oliver Insurance

Winters-Oliver Insurance Agency is a boutique agency offering property & casualty insurance and employee benefits services to small and middle market businesses. They have a reputation for providing an easy, comprehensive, and transparent process for meeting the needs of their clients.

Winters-Oliver wanted a new site to showcase the boutique aspect of their business. We developed a colorful homepage design that incorporates a large format slideshow to illustrate the wide variety of specialty industries that they serve. Links from the homepage take a visitor to a page on the industry they are interested in. (


Richmond Express Courier Service

Richmond Express, (the city’s first bicycle messenger service) is Central Virginia’s leading courier, providing delivery of any size package anywhere in the country, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They also provide a variety of peripheral services to help support the unique needs of their customers like: medical and refrigerated courier services, mail runs, notary services and warehousing.

Richmond Express had outgrown its website and needed a new site to help promote their expanded capabilities and better serve existing clients. DDI designed and developed a new site that incorporates colorful graphics, animation and a slideshow to tell the RE story on the homepage. A dedicated Customer Login/Open an Account panel stays on-screen at all times to enable account management and new account creation. Our custom CMS enables RE staff to keep the site fresh with news and new content as needed. (


Virginia Cooperative Council

The Virginia Cooperative Council is a group of statewide cooperative organizations that serve not only rural Virginians and those involved in agriculture but also provide services to hundreds of thousands of urban and suburban members as well. Members of VCC include a variety of cooperative businesses and organizations including farm supply cooperatives, electric and telecommunications cooperatives, commodity groups and marketing cooperatives. The old VCC website was complicated to update and had a dated look that no longer reflected the energy and scope of the current organization. DDI designed and built a new site that better reflects the spirit of the organization and is easy for VCC staff to update and change using our custom content management system.


Henrico Business Leaders

Henrico Business Leaders (HBL) is an organization of community-minded individuals that live and/or work in Henrico County. They have gathered to enable networking for the purpose of strengthening and growing business relationships. Their desire is to bring Henrico residents, businesses and government closer together as they promote Henrico County.

HBL needed a new site design and architecture that would enable staff to manage all content in addition to enabling members to manage and update content on the Membership Directory and to register for events on the Calendar of Events. A logo update and bold, colorful, full-screen design establishes a dynamic, contemporary look for the organization.


Agecroft Hall

Agecroft Hall, located in Richmond, Virginia, is a 15th century Tudor mansion that was bought in 1925 by the successful Richmond businessman T.C. Williams Jr., dismantled, and shipped from its original location in Lancashire, England to Richmond, where it has stood since 1926-27. After decades of service as a private residence, it then became a house museum, open to the public with an elegant interior and glorious gardens, all of which pay tribute to the Elizabethan Age.

Agecroft’s first generation website lacked many of the features and functionality that visitors expect to see on a modern, public website. We developed a fresh, new design that showcases the building, grounds and special events. It also enables visitors to plan, make reservations and purchase tickets to special events online.


Virginia War Memorial

The Virginia War Memorial is a permanent public memorial honoring Virginia heroes and their sacrifice, bravery, and service in defense of our country. Located in Richmond, Virginia, the memorial was commissioned in 1950 and dedicated on February 29, 1956. The memorial’s existing website was in need of a technology update in addition to rebranding to better reflect changes to the facility, services, and its expanded mission. DDI developed a new site that captures the essence and character of the memorial in addition to enhancing its ability to meet the needs of its core constituents including memorial visitors, event planners, fallen heroes and their families, benefactors/supporters, educators/historians and the press/media. Our custom content management system enables memorial staff to keep the content up-to-date and provides a framework for future enhancements.
